BDU is an acronym for Battle Dress Uniform. These usually consist of a single camo patterned pair of pants, a jacket and something to cover your head be it a boony or a ball cap they do the same thing.

Actually, the head gear is not considered a part of the BDU. BDUs only consist of the pants and the blouse. Also, you will hear different acronyms used for BDUs of different camoflauge patterns. These include DCU (Desert Combat Uniform) and ACU (Army Combat Uniform).

I stand corrected. I have found that some type of head gear is nice though especially a boony which i personally like becuase it keeps the sun off of my face and neck.
